My weekend summed up in photos :). Flower District with my friend Joanne, who is getting married soon (congratulations!!), and date with my husband :). The girl who you see at the end was the little waitress at the Thai restaurant that we went to. There was just a youthful bright vibe about her that I loved so I had to ask for a photo. Except I think it embarrassed her, because she never came back haha.

Last week I found a little kitten at a park that I went to train at. This very friendly was young and friendly, playful. White, domesticated. I asked around to see if it belonged to anyone, and seeing that it had been left at the park I took her home. Since my husband was allergic to cats we asked around to see if anyone was interested in taking her in. Fortunately many people responded, and last night this little one was taken home by one of my parkour friends and her sister.
They named her Shiro. <3
We miss you little Shiro, but trust that you're in good hands now :).

Some time ago my husband took me to a restaurant that he really enjoyed from the weekend that he worked the audio show with his dad. The presentation of everything was lovely. He got a burger, and I got a shrimp salad.
Unfortunately the salad was too spicy for me, so I couldn't taste most of it haha. On the bright side, it looked beautiful.

Finally back to posting my street/lifestyle photography work. Last month I got to take some shots at Downtown Fullerton, early morning. :)

Do you remember the Peony seeds that we planted a few months ago? If you have been up to date, all of them besides one sprout wilted away due to the scorching heat, so we decided to try replanting seeds. Ever since that we have been blessed to have a few more growing Peony plants :). Lately they have been growing by the exponents. Don't they look like lettuce? We can't wait to see the flowers.

Recently my husband took me on a surprise trip down to Carlsbad to see large, beautiful fields of Ranaculus. It's funny because even as a tomboy I'm an utter sucker for flowers. The beauty of it never ceases to put me in awe. :)
The following three were taken by my husband with the macro lens. It is neat how you can see different personalities and visions within different people. :)

For those of you who had a chance to read my last post, we planted peonies for the first time about two weeks ago. About a week later we were delighted to see many sprouts (we could count at least 10!), but then due unusually hot temperature that hit us, most of them withered away. We are lucky to see that one of the seedlings survived. :)
Here it is! (The picture is a few days old so we will update you soon :)). On a side note we planted some more seeds in hopes for a second chance, and we saw that some of them have shown themselves above the dirt, yay! Updated post soon.

You can see some the seedlings that popped up before they got scorched, and then the last photo is the survivor. X(
and... the survivor!

Last Sunday after church Chadsen & I planted some Peony seeds.
According to the package we will be needing to wait about 10-15 days to see some sprouts. :) I hope some do. Today marks the 7th day since we planted them, so you will be seeing a Peony update in about a week. It was so shocking to see how small Peony seeds are. They are literally about 1mm large...small. How can such beautiful, large blooms come from such tiny seeds? Seeing those seeds taught me how God works in miraculous ways and teaches us lessons from things we can hardly comprehend.

Last weekend my husband and I tried for the first time making pancake art. I had been seeing it online a lot lately and wanted to give it a try myself. Ladies and gentlemen, we found out that it is so much fun to make. Given that we took a little too much time getting creative with it, our breakfast turned into brunch :X. Would you be surprised to hear there was far more fun in making it rather than eating it? :)

See you soon :)

Yes I say this too often but I've sure missed blogging. As a lifestyle photographer I want to keep the blogging up!
Over Valentine's weekend my husband and I took a little weekend trip out to Zion National Park, Horseshoe Bend & the Lower Antelope Canyon. There is something about living amongst nature that brings you a peace unlike any other that can be found within the city. I plan to always remember that feeling that was felt as I stood, a small being, surrounded by the large landscapes.

May I share with you my recent experience with this young man that I got to meet last Saturday, with hopes to portray it in the most sincere and humble manner possible, as this recent experience with him had made a forever impact on me.
Using the crosswalk, I approached this young man, at the island where he was standing. At first he said no when I asked to take a picture of him. Of course to no surprise. If I were in his place I would most likely have rejected likewise. Giving up I walked over to the edge of the island, waiting for the crossing signal to turn green to direct me to "return home." About 30 seconds of standing there though, something unexpected happened. He called over to me from where he was standing, which was about 5-10 feet away.
Him: "What's it (the photo) for?"
Me: "It's a personal thing.
Me: "My goal is to display the realities of life, both good and bad."
Him: "Is this a good or bad thing?"
Me: "It's up to you to decide"
Him: "...Ok."
Him: "You can take one picture."
I felt the hesitance, the fear, the unsurety, but the glimmer of maybes as he gave me one shot. I took the best shot I could & showed it to him for approval. He gave me the OK.
This photo is unedited. I think it's perfect just as it is. As he stood there while I was taking the photo, I felt as if he shared a piece of his soul with me. He let me be a part of that experience.
Thoughts ran through my head while heading back.
I had forgotten to bring a jacket. It was a cold night.
How long was he out there? Him on that street, his friend on the other.
How old was he? The more appropriate question maybe ought to have been, how young was he?
What did it feel like to decide to stand on the edge of the road and do what you "see homeless people do?" How did it feel to ask for the first time for a piece of cardboard, for a pen to write your message that you know would need to be short but hopefully powerful enough for someone to reach out to you? How did it feel like to finally pick a spot to stand to raise the cardboard along with your message & wait?
I went home crying, and cried some more at my home. My home.
This week I was able to finally create an image which has been on my mind for a while thanks to my friend Jazmine.
I titled it "Your Choice. Your City."
Of course I have my own interpretation of this image, but I am curious to hear how others interpret what they see. Let me know on the comment section down below.
P.S. Much more photo creations coming shortly. So, see you soon.

Last week my friend invited me to go to a shoot out with an organization called Soulection out in L.A. I'm so glad to have said yes. What we did was walk down the L.A. streets with everyone who came (which ended up being about 100-200 people, far more than I had ignorantly assumed!) and photographed whatever we felt caught the spirit of the city and the things that simply intrigued us. I've been to L.A. quite a lot throughout the years, but just walking down these streets in L.A. for photography fueled my artistic fire, I loved it! It was so full of life, with so much going on. Unfortunately I had to leave about an hour after starting but I left with so much inspiration, so many more photo ideas and a desire to return here to do some shoots!
I'll be back to photo shoot ya, L.A.

Last week I got to work with two very talented and of course beautiful models for a studio portrait shoot. Here is the result from one of the models, Joanne. :) Last week I posted a picture of the makeshift backdrop that was used for the background. Looking at the result, you can't quite underestimate a the DIY backdrop huh? :) One day I will buy a full-fledged backdrop but in the meantime I think the DIY backdrop will do.
Recently my husband and I got to attend an event called "CPELI Cultural Night" that my friend put together. It was an event where international students like her were able to share a part of their culture with others such as their dance, food, clothing, language, etc. It was a great success. I got to work my hand at event photography in a low-light stage setting there, very fun :).
Great job!
